Sacramento Republic FC Sacramento, CA

Project Summary

We worked with the team at Sacramento Professional Soccer to quickly conceive, design, develop and execute Phase 1 of the Sacramento Republic FC’s website. We knew the site would be unveiled, along with the new team’s name and crest, before a crowd of thousands (and their smart phones) on Sacramento Soccer Day at Raley Field, so mobile-friendliness was a priority from the get go. We also knew we needed a robust way to capture fan interest and form relationships so that we could keep people informed as details about the team and the upcoming season unfolded. To that end we integrated the site’s forms with Campaign Monitor and used strategic questions to help us get to know our audience (for targeted communications down the road). A week in, we found out that we also needed an online store. No problem… we’re Shopify experts and rolled that into the equation on-the-fly without a hiccup. Finally, we had to develop the whole thing on an extremely aggressive timeline with no wiggle room (can’t keep a crowd of 14,000 plus waiting)! Awesome copywriter Kristen Lowrey Larson came on board to develop the content (fast!) and we got out our kung fu to make it happen and pull it all together for showtime!

As the look-and-feel of Republic FC’s identity congealed, we worked up and implemented a reskin just in time for the inaugural match, and we continued to expand and evolve the site’s capabilities as the season progressed!

Services Rendered

Consultation, information architecture, responsive design and development, WordPress development, Shopify development, Campaign Monitor integration and a whole lot of project management (including wrangling third-party service providers).

Notes

The site also featured integration with GAGA Sports & Entertainment’s system to power contest entries and other special-access fan features.

Visit The Site

After three solid seasons of performance, the league made it mandatory for all USL teams to move to the SportsEngine platform and the site we developed was retired.

You can visit the current SportsEngine-powered site (which we provided some consultation on but did not design and build) at www.SacRepublicFC.com.
